Brooklyn, NY - A 8-year-old Brooklyn boy who vanished while walking home alone from camp was found dead in a dumpster in Park Slope early Wednesday morning, police sources said.
More than a dozen NYPD detectives swarmed the scene outside the Park Slope Auto Center at 651 Fourth Ave. where the dismembered remains of little Leiby Kletzky may were discovered. Sources said the body was found after police in a passing patrol car checked the large gray trash container, which had its lid open.
The Orthodox Jewish boy was filmed by a store surveillance camera standing alone about 5:30 p.m. at the corner where 45th St., 18th Ave. and Dahill Road intersect, police said. At that point, he was already far off course from a seven-block walk to meet his parents.
The video shows a bearded man turn the corner and walk down Dahill Road with the boy walking behind him. The man then gets into a gold-colored sedan and drives off - but the video does not show the passenger side of the car.

מחריד: גופתו של הילד לייבי קלצקי בותרה והושלכה לחצר
אחרי ימים של חיפושים ותפילות, פרשת העלמותו של הילד לייבי קלצקי מסתיימת בטרגדיה: בניו-יורק מדווחים כי גופתו של הילד בן ה-9 נמצאה בדירה, שבה ביצעה המשטרה מעצר במסגרת חקירת הפרשה.
לפי הדיווח, גופתו של קלצקי בותרה באכזריות וחלקים ממנה נמצאו בדירה, וחלקים אחרים פזורים בחצר.
קלצקי יצא ממחנה הקיץ של חסידות בויאן בצהרי יום שני, ומאז נעלמו עקבותיו. במשפחתו הכריזו על פרס כספי גדול לכל מי שיביא בדל מידע כלשהו לגבי מקום המצאו.
במשטרה העריכו בשלב מסוים כי הילד נחטף. אביו של לייבי קיבל לאחרונה איומים על חייו מאדם שעבד אצלו בעבר, וההערכה היתה כי מדובר במעשה נקמה.
מצלמות אבטחה של חנויות מקומיות תיעדו את לייבי צועד לאורך השדרה ה-13 ובשלב הזה נעלמו עקבותיו.
התיעוד ממצלמות האבטחה חיזק את החשש כי לייבי נחטף. הוא נראה צועד לצידו של אדם זר. במשטרה העריכו כי האדם הזה הכניס אותו לרכבו וחטף אותו.
לפי דיווחים שמגיעים מארה"ב, ככל הנראה ישנו קשר בין האדם שתועד במצלמות, לבין הרצח האכזרי.
דב הייקינד, חבר מועצת עיריית ניו-יורק, סיפר כי קלצקי היה אמור לפגוש את אמו אחר הצהריים. "בדרך כלל הוא היה נוסע בהסעה מסודרת, אולם הוא ילד עצמאי והחליט הפעם לצעוד לבדו - מרחק שני רחובות ממחנה הקיץ, לנקודת המפגש שקבע עם אמו. אבל הוא פשוט לא הופיע".
One man was arrested in connection to the boy's disappearance and placed in handcuffs.
ReplyDeleteThe other two are a married couple, who live in the house. They were also taken into police custody but were not placed into handcuffs.
The 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody after police and FBI agents went into a house in the Kensington section of Brooklyn just after 4 a.m. Police tracked the man down using the surveillance video and tracing credit-card purchases.
ReplyDeleteThat person, described as a member of the Orthodox Jewish community, reportedly told them to go to the dumpster, on 20th Street off Fourth Avenue in Greenwood Heights. Police found the dumpster's lid open and a suitcase inside that contained portions of the boy's dismembered body. Other parts of the body were reportedly found at the man's home, possibly in a refrigerator
The family - and community - will be needing much emotional and psychological help in the coming weeks and months.
