Michael Todd Hamilton
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Police and family members of a man found dead inside his home made a public plea for help in finding those responsible for his murder.
Early Sunday morning, investigators discovered the body of 31-year-old Michael Todd Hamilton inside his Coral Springs home near Northwest 33rd Street and 98th Avenue.
Coral Springs Police initially ruled Hamilton's death suspicious. A day after Hamilton's body was found, however, his death was ruled a homicide.
On Thursday, Coral Springs Police held a press conference concerning the case. According to police, a blade of some kind was used to kill Hamilton, and the killer was most likely injured during the crime. Coral Springs Police Sergeant Dave Kirkland said, "We know that Michael was killed using some type of cutting instrument. We also have reason to believe that the perpetrator or perpetrators may have also suffered similar-type injuries."
Hamilton's family members attended the conference and asked anyone who may have information about their loved one's murder to come forward. "I need someone to tell me who did this to my son," said the victim's mother, Cathy Hamilton-Green. "I teach young children every day, and all I want to do is help people, and now I need your help to help my son."
"What we need right now is somebody from the community who might be harboring or have knowledge of or be with somebody whose injured and doesn't know what happened to call," said Hamilton's stepfather, Gerry Green.
According to family members, Hamilton, who worked at a local restaurant, was popular and had many friends. They would like for those who know who is responsible for Hamilton's death to contact authorities. "I want all his friends to come forward and help out in this," said Michael Hamilton, the victim's father. "I know that they know something that might help these people catch whoever did this."
If you have any information on those responsible for Hamilton's murder, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
