The NYPD says the shooting death of a Brooklyn store owner earlier in the week may be linked to another similar death last month.
59-year-old Isaac Kadare was shot and killed in his store in Bensonhurst on August 2 and police are warning other Brooklyn shopkeepers to watch out for a man who killed a 99-cent store owner last month.
Police say ballistics tests link the gunman to 65-year-old shopkeeper Mohammed Gebeli's shooting death last month.
Authorities believe the same .22-caliber handgun that was used to shoot Kadare and Gebeli who was gunned down inside a clothing store on Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge on July 6.
State senator Martin Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) is urging residents to call police with information that can help solve the murders of the two business owners.
Senator Golden is offering a $5000 reward in each case.
"The murders of these two business owners trying to fulfill the American dream and provide for their family, has devastated two families, and has shocked, saddened and put on alert the Southwest Brooklyn community," said Golden. "I continue to speak with the New York City Police Department as the investigations continue and have been assured of an increased police presence. We must solve these murders."
Coincidentally, the addresses of the two stores are similar as Gebeli was killed at 7718 Fifth Avenue and Kadare was killed at 1877 86th Street.
