WESLEY HILLS — A 9-year-old Wesley Hills boy suffered a broken leg and a head injury when he was struck by a car Saturday.
The boy, with his brother, was attempting to cross the road in front of bais menachem shul on Route 306 to join their father when he was struck by a 2008 Honda Accord driven by an Orange County woman, Wendy Nodop, 43, Ramapo police said. The boy's brother was not injured.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m., police said, and a large number of pedestrians were on the road due to the Jewish Sabbath.
There are no sidewalks in the area. Because of the heavy pedestrian traffic, cars were moving slowly, witnesses told police.
The boy was treated by Hatzolah Ambulance medics and transported to Westchester Medical Center. Police said the boy was alert and responsive at the scene, and that his injuries were not life-threatening.
No charges had been filed as police continued to investigate the incident.

ReplyDeletenot so simple. he rutured his diaphram, spleen and other internal organs. he si in an induced coma, and broke both legs. he has a 3 weeks old baby brother.

ReplyDeleteThe area was originally a semi-rural type area, not designed for dense populations, and certainly not for large amounts of people dressed in black walking on the road at night.

ReplyDeletePeople get the story right. this kid was not walking along route 306, He ran out into traffic without looking and He ran into the moving car and bounced off of it. The car did not run into him.
