Attention in the case of missing Indiana University sophomore Lauren Spierer turned today to Indianapolis, where the Metropolitan Police Department said it has recovered a woman's decomposed body from Fall Creek on the north east side of Indianapolis.
Bloomington Police Lt. William Parker said in a statement that investigators are in contact with Indianapolis police, but that there is not enough information to determine the identity or even a basic description of the body. "A forensic examination is pending which hopefully will provide more information," Parker's statement says.
Spierer, 20, was last seen about 4:30 a.m. June 3 walking alone toward her downtown Bloomington apartment building after a night of partying with friends. Last week police called off the general searches for the Greenburgh, N.Y., native.
