A pair of NYPD rookies seized a gun from a teen straphanger in Crown Heights, police source said.
Officer Ruben Tavares was riding a southbound 2-train with his partner Ronnie Zarabia around 1 p.m. when they noticed a 16-year-old walking between cars and pulled him off the train at President Street, cops said.
Tavares, who became a cop June 28, and Zarabia, who graduated the academy in December, determined the teen was a repeat offender, police said.
As the rookies placed the suspect under arrest and patted him down, they found that his back pants’ pocket contained a Jennings .380 semi-automatic handgun with a bullet in the chamber, cops added.
Charges are pending and police didn’t immediately release the teen’s name.
