Rockland County, NY - Police have arrested a 38-year-old Village of New Square man on 30 charges in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual abuse of a young boy.
Hershel Taubenfeld of New Square was charged with 30 counts of sexual abuse, all misdemeanors.
Ramapo Town Police received a complaint of possible sexual abuse in New Square in November. They investigated and on December 7, charges were filed against Taubenfeld. On Wednesday morning, he turned himself in with his attorney.
He was charged with the inappropriate conduct in his home over a five month period from March to July 2011.
According to the Rockland County Times, police are likely to arrest others in Taubenfeld’s circle in the coming weeks.
Taubenfeld was arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $15,000 bail pending a future court appearance.
