NYPD: Fatal shooting in Midtown Manhattan

A gunman fatally shot a man from Los Angeles execution-style in Midtown Manhattan on Monday afternoon.

Police are searching for at least two suspects who made off in a car after what is being described as a "hit" right in front of a school.

A 31-year-old man, identified as Brandon Lincoln Woodard, of Los Angeles, was walking westbound on West 58th Street when a gunman in dark clothing shot him once in the back of the head, police said.

The gunman then got into a passenger seat of a waiting car, which then drove away, Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said.

Medics brought Woodard to Roosevelt Hospital where he died, the FDNY said.

The NYPD is searching for the car the gunman fled in. Witnesses said it may be a gray or silver Lincoln. It headed east on West 58th Street and then turned onto 7th Avenue and headed south, police said.

The shooting happened outside of the St. Thomas Choir School and across from a firehouse, near Columbus Circle and a block south of Central Park.
