Rabbi, Con Ed worker get stuck in a bucket truck

NEW ROCHELLE — While the ancient Jews were running low on oil, it’s safe to say they didn’t encounter this kind of trouble lighting their menorah.

A rabbi and a Consolidated Edison worker were stranded in a bucket truck Sunday night about 20 feet in the air as they attempted to light an oversized electric menorah.

Despite being stuck, they did manage to celebrate the second night of Hanukkah by turning on another candle at the Jewish Community Center of Mid-Westchester.

The New Rochelle Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and firefighters used a ladder truck to retrieve the pair.

A Con Edison spokesman said the truck malfunctioned.

He said that a mechanic was called to fix the problem.
