The Manhattan dentist who called cops after he received a mystery UPS package bursting with pot said Saturday he has no regrets over piping up.
"Even if it was money, I would still call up the police," Dr. Richards Lyons said a day after making the dopey discovery worth $50,000 on the street. "It's not mine and it's not legal."
The 31 pounds of reefer arrived at Lyons' Chinatown office with a Texas return address, but cops were still trying to track down the shipment's true origin.
The package, which arrived at Lyons' office on Worth and Mott Sts. about 10:30 a.m., was signed for by the pony-tailed dentist's assistant. When Lyons, 61, arrived about 3 p.m., he opened up the box and discovered the massive bundle of bud.
It was wrapped in a black plastic bag with a bunch of baby wipes on top - apparently to help disguise its funky odor.
Lyons immediately called police. The pot was so pungent that by the time they arrived, they had to borrow blue dental masks because the fumes were giving them headaches.
Lyons told cops he had no clue why the package was sent to him. It had a return address for a Gwendaline Lyons in Katy, Tex. No listing could be found for that person and the address doesn't exist.
Another New Yorker named Richard Lyons, reached by the Daily News on Saturday, said he knew nothing about the special delivery. "It wasn't meant for me," said the man from Queens Village.
