Fortaleza, Brazil - An Israeli businessman and resident of Brazil was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon by unknown assassins in the country’s north Wednesday, local media reported.
According to the reports, 35 year old Sagiv Simona was shot five times by motorcycle-riding assailants while sitting in his car. He reportedly attempted to escape his attackers despite receiving grave wounds to the head.
According to the commander of the 4th Company of the 5th Military Police Battalion, Major George Benicio, Simona was a branch manager of a local vehicle dealership. “It seems that Sagiv had sold a car in Quixadá and the person has not paid, so they came back to kill him”.
Sagive was married and a father of 3. Sagiv was the head Of the Jewish Organization National Congress of Bnei Anusim, descendants of Jews persecuted during the Inquisition.

שגיב סימונה, איש עסקים ישראלי המתגורר בברזיל בשנים האחרונות נרצח אתמול (רביעי) ביריות, כך מדווחים כלי תקשורת במדינה. על פי הדיווחים הוא נורה חמש פעמים על ידי שני מתנקשים שרכבו על אופנוע בעת שישב במכוניתו בעיר בצפון ברזיל.
כלי התקשורת בברזיל מדווחים כי למרות שסימונה נפצע בראשו באורח קשה, הוא ניסה להימלט מהיורים. הוא פונה לקבלת טיפול רפואי בית החולים, אך שם נקבע מותו.
סימונה הותיר אחריו אשה ושלושה ילדים. אחד מחבריו סיפר לתקשורת המקומית כי הוא היה אדם שקט וכי לא היה ידוע לו שהוא היה מסוכסך עם מישהו.
אשתו של סימונה כתבה בדף הפייסבוק שלה כי "איבדתי את אהבת חיי וחברי הטוב ביותר. רציתי לבוא לכאן (פייסבוק) כי כאן הוא נהג לבלות זמן עם חבריו מרחבי העולם. נגיע לישראל ביום רביעי שם הוא יובא למנוחות לצד סבו בבית חשמונאי".
