Rape Trial Continues for 2 NYPD Cops

Witnesses took the stand Monday at the trial of two NYPD officers accused in the rape of a woman to testify that the cops blew off emergency calls. The witnesses said that the officers stayed close to the Manhattan apartment where prosecutors have accused one officer of raping a drunken woman while the other stood guard at the door.

Security camera video shows the cops -- accused rapist Officer Kenneth Moreno and accused lookout Officer Franklin Mata -- making three return trips to the drunken woman's apartment over the course of five hours, the New York Post reported.

The officers are charged with conspiring to rape the woman under a criminal statute requiring proof she was too drunk and helpless to consent.

The jury also heard a 911 call in which someone made a complaint about a sleeping homeless man. Prosecutors have suggested the cops made this call themselves to have a reason to keep returning to the woman's apartment.

The officers have insisted there was no sex between either of them and the woman, whom they were summonded to help after a cab driver said she was too drunk to get out of his cab back in 2008.
