New York - Referring to his behavior as “extremely disturbing,” the Rabbinical Council of America has granted an “indefinite” leave of absence to defamed scholar and law professor Rabbi Dr. Michael Broyde, effective immediately.
The TABLET is reporting that Broyde’s biography has already been deleted from the Beth Din of America website.
Broyde has been awash in scandal since he admitted last week to using a fake identity in submissions to rabbinical journals, championing his own writings, and even joining rival left-wing rabbinical groups.
RCA president Rabbi Shmuel Golden said Broyde will “cease” to serve as dayan “immediately and indefinitely.”
Golden also said that the RCA has opened an investigation into the matter to determine if any “further” action is warranted.
