The NYPD is stepping up security around prominent New York City locations and landmarks in response to the two explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne confirmed the increased security and said NYPD officials were re-deploying counterterrorism vehicles throughout the city.
"We've been stepping up security at hotels and other prominent locations in the city through deployment of the NYPD's critical response vehicles (CRVs) until more about the explosions in Boston is learned," Browne wrote in an email.
