Investigation: A police officer tries to climb into the home of Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin in a re-enactment of their daughter's disappearance
A police re-enactment in the Baby Lisa case today raised scepticism about her parents’ claims that the child was plucked from her crib by an unknown abductor in the middle of the night.
The operation proved difficult for two officers acting as a potential kidnapper, as each had difficulty getting into the home and needed help from other investigators.
One officer got his legs caught in the window after it suddenly slammed closed while he was climbing in.
Lisa Irwin vanished last Monday after her mother Deborah Bradley said she put the child down for bed at about 10:30pm.
But later that night, when Lisa’s father Jeremy Irwin checked on the child when he got home from work, the baby was gone, and she was reported missing by her parents early Tuesday.
Irwin and Bradley claimed someone must have crept into their home while the child's mother and brothers slept and snatched the baby girl, saying that the front window had been tampered with.
Police have not commented on any aspect of the investigation.
But police spokesman Capt. Steve Young says investigators are trying everything they can.
NBC News reported that police visited several homes in the area over the weekend, asking questions about a local handyman who has not been seen since Lisa disappeared
It was revealed Sunday that Bradley is still married to another man, despite claiming she is engaged to the father of the missing 10-month old baby.
Bradley and Jeremy Irwin have talked about their engagement and wedding plans in interviews since their baby disappeared in Missouri on Monday.
But the family of Sean Bradley, the father of her six-year-old son Michael, has claimed she is still married to him.
Bradley and her husband Sean Bradley separated four years ago, but never got divorced, they say.
The family of Mr Bradley, who is currently away serving in the Army, said that their daughter-in-law was a good person who they do not think would be capable of harming a child.
The couple met in high school and got married shortly after she became pregnant with their son.
Bradley and Jeremy Irwin have been trying to take themselves out of the media spotlight after they came under increasing suspicion in the disappearance of their daughter.
The couple claim that Lisa Irwin was abducted from her crib after Bradley put her to bed at 10:30pm on Monday.
They reported her missing on Tuesday and began television interviews appealing for her return the next day.
But on Thursday police said that they had stopped co-operating with the investigation.
This weekend they started meeting with officers again and said they had just needed a break from incessant police questioning.
Family spokesman Mike Lerette said that they will be giving fewer interviews now because they want full attention on finding their daughter.
