Naomi Wolf and partner were arrested Tuesday night for disorderly conduct after refusing to move

Feminist writer and activist Naomi Wolf was arrested Tuesday night among a group of Occupy Wall Street protesters outside an event honouring, among dozens of others, the governor of New York.

Refusing to stay off the street under police orders, she was arrested for disorderly conduct despite describing her presence as 'peaceful, respectful, law-abiding and orderly.'

I was arrested for not backing down when a police officer told me contrary to what I knew about the law and the permit process that a private entity owned the sidewalk,' Ms Wolf write on her Facebook page and website following her release.

He was mistaken and I was correct,' she added.

Ms Wolf also escribed her holding cell as having '...blood and feces on the wall.'

The group of 50 protesters rallying had gathered outside an award ceremony for Governor Andrew Cuomo at Manhattan's Skylight Studios.

They were demonstrating their support of a 'millionaires' tax he opposes

The 'Game changer of the Year Award,' Mr Cuomo was receiving was presented by The Huffington Post, which Ms Wolf frequently blogs for.

Reality star Kim Kardashian was also present at the ceremony, receiving a 'business leader' award.

Ms Wolf, 48, is perhaps best known as the author of the best-selling book, 'The Beauty Myth.'

She has also written books on sexuality, motherhood and freedom, was a consultant for Bill Clinton and Al Gore and also contributes to multiple publications.
For her book Give Me Liberty she tried and failed in 2008 to read the Constitution from a megaphone in Union Square, which she found out was illegal.

Among other notable protesters Tuesday night, was actor Alec Baldwin, who tweeted to make his presence known.

He described his stay as '...a too brief two hours at OWS' after previously tweeting his desire to attend.
