Family mourns Westchester woman, children slain by lawyer in murder-suicide

A funeral was held for Amy Friedlander and her two children on Sunday

They never spoke his name, but Sam Friedlander's fingerprints were all over the funeral held for his Westchester wife and two children on Sunday.

At the Joseph Levine and Sons Memorial Chapel in Trevose, Penn., Friedlander's face was noticeably missing from the photo collages in the lobby. Throughout the service, his name was never uttered.

But his presence was palpable to the estimated 400 guests who mourned for Amy Friedlander, 46, and the couple's two children Molly, 10, and Gregory, 8.

Cops say Sam Friedlander blasted his own children with a 12-gauge shotgun last Monday, and then tucked them into bed. He also bludgeoned his estranged wife to death with a piece of furniture, before shooting himself in their Cross River basement.

There are simply no words to prepare anyone for the unspeakable grief that we are feeling here today," said Rabbi Craig Axler.

There are no words to describe the anger or lack of justice we are experiencing here today. We come here as a family and community that is torn."

Amy Friedlander was remembered as an adoring mother as she was laid to rest Sunday alongside her slain children. Gregory was an avid Yankees fan, mourners said, while a cousin gave Molly a "best friends" necklace to wear "forever" and a ladybug Pillow Pet.

The three caskets sat side-by-side, topped with large fall floral arrangements.

Amy Friedlander's stunned father, Gary Perez, didn't speak during the service, but other friends and relatives fondly remembered the victims before they were buried at Montefiore Cemetery in Rockledge, Penn.

My sister, my best friend, Amy, you were taken away from me too soon," said a tearful Jill Gobora. "I wish in your lifetime you could have truly appreciated how funny, pretty, kind, and intelligent you really were."

"You were such a loving, caring, and devoted mother," she continued. "Molly and Gregory were such wonderful children because of you and only you.

"My heart will ache for you every day."
