Monsey - Bicyclist hit by car, seriously injured in a hit-run


Monsey — A bicyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident with a car this morning at Saddle River Road and West Maple Avenue in Monsey, police said.

It was the second accident involving a bicyclist in just over 12 hours.

The bicyclist suffered a fractured skull, a concussion and possbily broken ribs, Ramapo police Sgt. Anthony Giardina said.

Police issued a hotline for a silver Town Car with a missing side-view mirror.

The accident was reported about 7:40 a.m. The area has been closed to traffic while police investigated. The scene is a block down from Route 306.

No name or other details on the bicyclist were available as of 8:30 a.m.

The incident came hours after a separate accident in which a bicyclist was hit by a car

at 7 p.m. on Route 59 near Robert Pitt Drive in Ramapo on border of Monsey and Spring Valley.

The bicyclist, identified as Jose Alfredo Cisneros Jimenez of Spring Valley, was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla by the Hatzolah Ambulance Corps.

He was reported in critical condition.

Police also were investigating that incident.

Police this afternoon released the name of the bicyclist, Isaac Pinrovics.
