L.A. Ex-fire chief's son bribed TSA agent to get pot on jet, FBI says

The son of a former L.A. city fire chief was under arrest Monday for allegedly bribing a Transportation Security Administration agent at LAX to help him smuggle marijuana onto a flight, authorities said.

Millage Peaks, 23, the son of former Los Angeles Fire Chief Millage Peaks, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of bribing a public official.

TSA employee Dianna Perez, 28, of Inglewood, also was arrested for allegedly accepting the bribe, said Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Los Angeles.

Eimiller said Peaks was attempting to carry marijuana on a flight to Boston. The nature of the alleged bribe hasn't been disclosed.

The arrests occurred after a baggage handler smelled marijuana in a bag and alerted supervisors.

Peaks and Perez are scheduled to appear in court later Monday.

In a statement released Monday, the TSA said the agency was working with law enforcement in the investigation and that "appropriate disciplinary action will be taken."

The elder Peaks retired as fire chief this year.
