Police arrested a man they believe is behind a string of sex attacks in Brooklyn
A suspect has been charged in one of the string of sex assaults plaguing Brooklyn, police sources said Wednesday.
Adolfo Martinez, 26, of Sunset Park said nothing as was taken from the Brooklyn Special Victims unit in Prospect Heights for the trip to Central Booking about 4 a.m.
Cops collared Martinez Tuesday night in connection with a Monday night groping in Sunset Park. He was charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse in that incident.
Several women who have been attacked in the same way viewed the suspect in lineups Tuesday night and Wednesday.
It wasn't clear if Martinez would be charged in additional incidents.
Police have said they believe more than one man is responsible for the wave of attacks, which began in March. One woman was raped and at least 12 others have been groped from behind. In some cases, the women fought the attacker off and in others he fled when they screamed.
The attacks have taken place primarily in Sunset Park and Park Slope. Other incidents have occurred in Bay Ridge, Greenwood Heights, Windsor Terrace and on the border of Borough Park.
