Lakewood, NJ - None Hurt in Yom Kippur Night House Fire

Lakewood, NJ - Heavy smoke and flames were showing when firefighters arrived at 412 Arlington Avenue 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Lakewood Fire Chief Rodney Youmans. It took about 45 minutes of battling the blaze before the fire was declared under control, Youmans said. The general alarm fire required all five Lakewood companies to respond.

About six people were in the home when the fire broke out, officials said.

No one was injured and the occupants of the home had already evacuated when police arrived, said Police Sgt. Joseph Goertz.

The displaced persons relocated to neighbor’s homes and the Red Cross was not contacted, Youmans said.
