Police raid several ultra-Orthodox institutions in Jerusalem, arrest five for allegedly defrauding State out of millions via false registration of seminary students

The Jerusalem Police raided several ultra-Orthodox institutions Sunday as part of an elaborate fraud investigation. Five people were arrested.

Police believe that the suspects are involved in a massive student registration scheme, meant to defraud the state out of millions of shekels.

According to available details, the suspects falsely registered children ages 3-14 in religious seminaries run by haredi sects, which are known to be anti-government.

The investigation is headed by the Jerusalem Police's 101 Unit. During the raid several computers and documents were seized.

The police said that the investigation is ongoing and that future arrests are likely to take place in the coming weeks.
