A Texas man was sentenced to 45 years behind bars after his fifth drunk driving conviction.
Stephen Andrew Hall, 59, received the punishment last week, CBS Dallas/ Fort Worth reported.
“The 45-year sentence was fitting considering his prior DWI history,” Tarrant County Assistant Attorney Erin Cofer told the station. “[The\] sentence ensures that he will not be able to drive a vehicle on our roads for a very long time.”
The Fort Worth man’s most recent arrest was last July, when he was pulled over for a traffic violation. Hall reportedly told cops he had only drank two beers, but his blood alcohol level tested to be more than twice the legal limit.
Hall was arrested for his fifth DWI.
In court, prosecutors detailed Hall’s prior convictions, noting that he had already served time for one DWI and had also been sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated robbery, according to the Star-Telegram.
Jurors took only four minutes to find Hall guilty.
Hall must serve a quarter of his conviction before parole can be considered.
