Karl Vanderwoude, Charges to be dropped against man accused of being preppy groper

                      Charges against Karl Vanderwoude will be dismissed, his attorney said.

Charges against a Bible study leader accused of groping women in Manhattan will be dismissed after security tapes and dinner receipts proved his alibi, his attorney said Saturday.

Prosecutors saw security tapes and other evidence provided by Mvision, Karl Vanderwoude’s company, that proved the 26-year-old was at his Madison Ave. office firing away emails just before 2 p.m. on Feb. 27.

That’s the same time police believed he grabbed a woman’s behind on the upper East Side at Second Ave. and E. 67th Street before fleeing the scene.

A dapper dresser resembling Vanderwoude was caught on surveillance footage at that spot wearing a long dark coat, an image that was distributed by the NYPD in an effort to find the pervert.

Vanderwoude’s attorneys also turned over a dinner receipt from Mario Batali’s West Village pizza and wine spot Otto on March 30, where the accused fondler says he ate with friends at about 7:20 p.m.

That’s when a groper allegedly reached under a woman’s skirt inside the subway station at Chambers and Church Streets.

Vanderwoude was picked out of a lineup by at least one of the groping victims.

While he was charged with victimizing two women following his April 13 arrest, prosecutors declined to charge him with a Feb. 26 incident police suspected was part of a string of unwanted sexual encounters committed by the same man.

The ordeal has been trying for Vanderwoude, originally from Michigan, who hosts a weekly Bible study session at his Park Slope apartment, according to the lawyer.

“It’s quite disturbing for him. He’s a nice young man and we're hoping he can put his life back [together\],” Tumelty said.

Vanderwoude was charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse and unlawful surveillance, for allegedly filming under the woman’s skirt on March 30.

Prosecutors have asked to call the case in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday to move for the dismissal, Tumelty said.

Vanderwoude was released without bail at his arraignment. His pastor, roommate and another friend were present for support at the proceeding.

The District Attorney’s office and the NYPD did not immediately comment.
