Mike Huckabee slams An Jewish pregnant Natalie Portman

The Academy may like Natalie Portman, but Mike Huckabee is not a fan.

The Former Arkansas governor slammed the Oscar-winning star this week, telling radio host Michael Medved he thinks the actress is glamorizing "the idea of children out of wedlock."

Portman, who won the Best Actress award for her performance in "Black Swan," announced in December that she was engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millipied and pregnant with her first child.

But planning to get married is a far cry from being married, as far as Huckabee and Medved are concerned.

Huckabee, who is rumored to be considering a presidential campaign in 2012, appeared on the conservative radio show on Monday, where he got into a conversation about the Oscars and Portman's win.

"It's a problem because she's about seven months pregnant, it's her first pregnancy, and she and the baby's father aren't married," Medved said. "And before two billion people, Natalie Portman says 'Oh I want to thank my love and he's given me the most wonderful gift.' He didn't give her the most wonderful gift, which could be a wedding ring!"

"It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of children out of wedlock," Huckabee responded.

The Fox News contributor and onetime Republican presidential candidate said he believes Portman's privileged status makes her a misleading role model for single mothers.

"People see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, 'Hey look, you know, we're having children, we're not married, but we're having these children, and they're doing just fine,'" he said. "But there aren't really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie," he said.
