He had a list for drugs, violence and a pretty girl named Yelena Bulchenko.
Even before he killed four people in a blood-soaked spree, Maksim Gelman was known as a crazy guy who should be avoided.
"He was a sick bastard," said Gerard Honig Saturday, who was dating Bulchenko when she was stabbed to death. "He was crazy and doing a lot of drugs."
Once seen as a "nice" kid, the 23-year-old slacker began building a sinister reputation three years ago.
Gelman racked up a half-dozen arrests living with his mom and stepdad in a Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, condo, people who knew him say.
Two busts were on drug charges, and pals of Bulchenko, whom Gelman briefly dated, insist he was a PCP-smoking drug dealer.
"He smokes angel dust," said Andre Andriyak, who knew the young woman for five years. "He sells his own drugs. He's a piece of s---."
Gelman, who was into spray-painting and skateboarding, appeared high after his arrest yesterday, sources said.
While cops were grilling him at the 61st Precinct stationhouse, Gelman looked and sounded like he was "coming off of a high, in and out," a law enforcement source said. "Half high, half disturbed."
Gelman was obsessed with Bulchenko, 20, even after she made it clear their relationship was over.
Her next-door neighbor, Gabrielle Kiernan, said Gelman showed up a few months ago and pounded on his ex's door.
"She was terrified. She didn't know what to do," Kiernan said. "He was screaming 'I'm going to kill you if you don't open the door.' One of the reasons they broke up was because he was abusive."
A Sheepshead Bay neighbor, Raisa Chernina, recalled a night when Gelman brought pals to the condo pool. The party was loud and profane.
Chernina complained - and a week later, found the door of her red Nissan Altima kicked in.
"I don't want to accuse anybody, because I don't know," she said. "He used to be the nicest boy, always saying hi and opening the door for you."
Gelman and his parents moved to the neighborhood about a decade ago, apparently from Ukraine. His aunt, Olga, broke down yesterday when asked about her nephew.
"I know him as a good boy," she said. "He was a normal child. I hadn't seen him in a long time.
"I knew that they had problems, but everyone has problems," Gelman's aunt added. "But nothing like this."
Gelman's most recent arrest was just last month, when he was busted on a drug charge. He had a previous drug arrest in January 2009, along with charges for robbery, aggravated harassment and graffiti. One of his spray-paint creations splashed Bulchenko's name across a wall, another friend of the slain woman said.
He also received a pair of summonses for holding an open container of alcohol, although none of his prior run-ins with the law foreshadowed his blood lust.
"Now," said Chernina, "there are so many questions."

הבן החורג נכנס למטבח, חטף כמה סכינים, ולעיני אימו רצח את אלכסנדר קוזניטשוב, אביו החורג - יהודי ממוצא רוסי. משם המשיך גלמן רדוף טרוף לבית קרובת משפחה, המתגוררת במרחק מספר רחובות - שם רצח בדקירות סכין את האשה ואת בתה הצעירה.
בסביבות השעה ארבע אחר הצהריים המשיך גלמן במסע הרצח, כאשר במנוסתו הוא רוצח את סטפן טננבאום, שהיה בדרכו לבית-כנסת.
גלמן המשיך במנוסתו וניסה לגנוב רכב מסוג ניסן, כשהוא דוקר ופוצע קשה את נהג הרכב.
הרוצח שם את פעמיו לשכונת קראון-הייטס, והגיע לשדרת איסטרן פארקאווי - השדרה בה ממוקם מרכז חב"ד העולמי. באותה שעה נוהרים אלפים לתפילת קבלת שבת.
הרוצח אחוז הטירוף התנגש במהלך נסיעתו במונית. נהג המונית ניסה להתווכח עמו וגלמן שלף סכין ופצע את הנהג באורח קשה.
בינתיים החלה המשטרה, בכוחות מתוגברים בהליקופטרים, במסע ללכדת הרוצח. המשטרה נעזרה בכלי התקשורת, והציבור בברוקלין הסתגר בחשש בביתו.
בינתיים נטש הרוצח את המכונית הגנובה ונמלט אל תוך רכבת קו 1 החולפת בשכונת קראון הייטס. הוא הצליח להגיע למנהטן, כאשר אחד הנוסעים זיהה אותו, ירד בתחנה והעביר את המידע למשטרה.
צוות של שוטרים התמקם בתא הנהג, ובינתיים עבר גלמן בקרונות, דקר אנשים שהפריעו מפריעים לו בדרכו והמשיך לכיוון תא הנהג.
גלמן דפק על דלת תא הנהג והזדהה כשוטר. בשלב זה נפתחה הדלת והשוטרים התנפלו על גלמן והצליחו להמם אותו באמצעות גז מדמיע.
גלמן נלכד - והציבור נשם לרווחה.
אנשי ארגון 'חסד של אמת' פועלים מאז מוצאי-שבת לשחרור גופות שני היהודים שנרצחו, ולמניעת בזיון המת - והבאתם לקבורה.
