NY - Supporters To Rally For Charedi Brooklyn Man Imprisoned In Bolivia

New York, NY - Family, friends and supporters of Jacob Ostreicher, who has been jailed in Bolivia for the past eleven months, will hold a rally in support of the New York businessman tomorrow, demanding his immediate release.

Bolivian authorities have been investigating Ostreicher, one of a group of investors in a rice field in the Eastern Bolivian lowlands, on suspicion of money laundering. Charges have yet to be filed in the case.

The rally will take place on Thursday morning at 11 AM at the Permanent Mission of Bolivia to the United Nations, located at 211 East 43rd Street in Manhattan. In addition to Ostreicher’s friends and family, community leaders and public officials are also expected to attend.

The case has caught the public’s attention of the AP, and ABC News’ Nightline program airing this Friday night will be devoted to Ostreicher’s near year long detainment. Efforts by the State Department to discuss the issue have so far proved to be fruitless and the United Nations Human Rights Commission is monitoring the situation.

Jacob’s wife Miriam, his children, grandchildren, community and public leaders along with 500 of his friends and supporters will stand in solidarity with Jacob Ostreicher to demand that Bolivia end his wrongful imprisonment and release him immediately.
