1010WINS Anchor Brian Carey Badly Beaten In UES Apartment Building

New York, NY - Popular 1010WINS afternoon drive mainstay Brian Carey remained hospitalized in serious condition after a neighbor found him bloodied and savagely beaten in the lobby of his Midtown apartment building late Monday evening.

The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Reports that police are investigating a possible robbery angle after Carey, who is unable to speak due to a broken jaw, related to them that his wallet and cell phone were missing when he emerged from semiconsciousness.

According to sources, a neighbor discovered the dazed and bloodied Carey in the lobby of his E 61st St. building around 11 p.m. Monday.

Carey was immediately taken to New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he remained, with a serious head wound and facial fractures in addition to the broken jaw.

1010WINS news and programming director, Ben Mevorach, said Carey is in the thoughts of friends and colleagues.

“Brian is a treasured member of the 101WINS family,” Mevorach said. “Right now all of our focus is on helping him recover.”
