EZRA FINEMAN Bone marrow search
Ezra Fineman needs a miracle, and his parents are hoping to find it in one of the most unlikely, yet strangely fitting, places.
Today, friends of the 3-year-old will be camped out in front of the “Bodies” exhibit at the South Street Seaport in search of a bone-marrow match for Ezra’s rare tissue type.
Passers-by will be asked to volunteer saliva samples in search of a match.
“The problem is his body isn’t able to produce antibodies,” said his mother, Robin Fineman, 32. “He can’t fight off infections.”
Identifying the right donor could reverse that situation
Ezra was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Hyper IgM syndrome when he was just 4 months old.
Without a transplant, Ezra is at risk of developing liver disease, lymphoma and tumors.
His disorder could eventually lead to death.
