DNA links ex-cop Darrin Nemelc to teen rape, prosecutors say

Darrin Nemelc, 44, is out on $100,000 bail

A former NYPD cop pleaded not guilty Thursday to raping a 14-year-old runaway in his Manhattan home, but prosecutors said they have DNA tying him to the girl.

Darrin Nemelc, 44, who is out on $100,000 bail, is charged with assaulting the girl Jan. 1 at 1 a.m. after dragging her to his W. 155th St. apartment.

"The defendant's DNA was found on her body," prosecutor Rena Paul told a Manhattan judge as Nemelc was arraigned.

In statements to cops, Nemelc, a married father who now works for city transit, denied raping the teen and said he only let her use his bathroom, court documents show.

"We don't have any indication of what the DNA is," Jeff Chabrowe, Nemelc's lawyer, said. He also claimed that prosecutors suggested any contact might not have been forcible.

The lawyer said Nemelc retired from the NYPD in 1999
