The horrifying attacks all came from the air that day 10 years ago, and since then almost every New Yorker who has passed an airline security checkpoint couldn't help but wonder about their safety.

"As New Yorkers, we know that we are a terror target. We have had 13 terror attempts since 9/11," said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y. "We need to have all the tools necessary to keep our communities safe."

But do we? Most counter terrorism experts that Fox 5's Lisa Evers spoke to say no.

Veteran law enforcement sources say the security safety net protecting New York area airports has two big holes: video surveillance and communications.
