"The Jersey Sting" authors visit the dirty heart of Solomon Dwek's double cross

Josh Margolin and Ted Sherman wrote the new book 'The Jersey Sting: A true story of corrupt pols, money laundering rabbis, black market kidneys, and the informant who brought it all down

Even given New Jersey's long, sad history of political corruption, the 2009 FBI takedown of 44 people - including mayors, state lawmakers, well known rabbis and one suspected black market kidney dealer - was a story without rival.

At the center of it all was Solomon Dwek, the son of a Monmouth County rabbi who turned FBI informant to beat the rap on his massive real estate Ponzi scheme. Wearing a hidden camera, Dwek infiltrated the worlds of New Jersey politics and money laundering synagogues revealing plots and double crosses and characters far too strange for fiction.

In their new book "The Jersey Sting" (St. Martin's Press) authors Ted Sherman (a Star-Ledger reporter) and Josh Margolin (formerly of the Star-Ledger and now with the New York Post) tell the inside story of the investigation.

On today's Ledger Live video, Sherman and Margolin return with host Brian Donohue to the filthy, contaminated Jersey City property that lay at the heart of Dwek's ruse. It is Sherman and Margolin's first interview upon the release of the book, which is in stores this week. Put on some good rubber boots to wade through the muck. And enjoy the video.
