In an attack by a self-professed member of the Master Race, a racist inmate at a Texas federal prison attacked his sleeping Jewish cellmate, placing a ligature around his neck and forcibly pulling him to the floor.
The Jewish man lost consciousness and, once on the floor, Timothy Lee York, 35, repeatedly kicked and punched him in the head and body, according to the Justice Department.
York is a member of the United Aryan Brotherhood. York, of Fountain Valley, Calif., acknowledged that he attacked his cellmate in December 2007 because the man was Jewish.
He was sentenced to 63 months in prison for the attack and ordered to pay $5,783 in restitution.
“This sentencing should send a strong message that hate crimes will be investigated vigorously by the FBI, and those found to be responsible will be brought to justice,” said Robert E. Casey Jr., Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Field Office in Dallas.
