Police nail cutoff man

ESU cops arrest Yehuda Bernstein after a slow-speed car chase yesterday.

A motorist in Brooklyn learned the hard way not to cut off the NYPD's elite Emergency Service Unit.

Yehuda Bernstein, 39, nearly crashed into the squad's marked truck yesterday afternoon at Ocean Parkway and Prospect Avenue when he cut if off -- and then he led the officers on a low-speed chase for about six blocks before he was finally dragged out of his car kicking and screaming, cops said.

The ESU officers blasted their sirens for Bernstein to stop his Lincoln MKS but he allegedly ignored them and proceeded south down Ocean Parkway, swerving into oncoming traffic and blowing red lights along the way.

The high-tech truck followed and finally caught Bernstein near Beverly Road when he was slowed by traffic, sources said.

He resisted arrest by gripping the steering wheel and it took several officers to pry him out. A cop finally put his knee in Bernstein's back and shouted, "You idiot! You could have killed someone!"

He was issued a desk appearance for misdemeanor reckless endangerment and cut loose.
