CNN, Fox News and MSNBC have come under fire for naming the underage victim in the Steubenville rape trial.
The TV networks broadcast a clip of courtroom footage in which one of the high school football players found guilty had apologized to the 16-year-old girl and her family.
In the uncensored clip, Trent Mays said: 'I would truly like to apologize to [victim's name], her family, my family and the community.
'No picture should have been sent around, let alone even taken.'
Mays addressed the girl by name and it was not censored for the networks' airing.
CNN and MSNBC broadcast the clip on Sunday while Fox did so today.
Local station WTRF, a CBS affiliate, also revealed the victim's name.
Trent Mays, 17, and 16-year-old Ma’lik Richmond were found guilty on Sunday of raping the 16-year-old girl.
The football players' trial in Steubenville, Ohio has gripped the country after the players were accused of subjecting the girl to a night of humiliation and degradation.
The two young men raped the severely intoxicated fellow student and then swapped pictures and stories of the teen online in the days afterwards.
Both have been sentenced to a minimum of one year in a juvenile detention institution for the crime.
CNN's coverage of the Steubenville rape trial was also roundly criticized after the cable news network focused on the devastating effect on the 'promising' lives of the rapists and not the 16-year-old victim.
