NEW YORK - Plainclothes police officers conducting a buy and bust operation in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn shot a 20-year-old man who opened fire on them, according to police.
Shaquile Reid was shot in the left hand and buttock on Thursday evening.
Police initially approached Reid with their badges on Grafton Street after seeing him pull out a handgun. That's when he fired at the officers, said police. They returned fired.
Reid was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition.
The two officers were taken to Kings County Hospital for tinnitus. There were listed in stable condition.
Officers say they had stopped to question Reid about another shooting.
