Rabbi Moshe Lazer Zigelman gets another 6 months house arrest

A secretary of the grand rabbi of Spinka received another 6 months house arrested after refusing to testify in court, according to court proceedings in California.

While the Spinka grand rabbi from the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, New York, is visiting Israel, Rabbi Moshe Lazer Zigelman, the personal secretary of the rabbi, was at a court hearing in Los Angeles, California.

Several months ago, Zigelman was released from prison after completing a nine month prison sentence on charges of failure to cooperate with a police investigation and refusing to transfer information of criminals who came to the house of the rabbi.

A federal judge sentenced Zigelman to 13 months in jail, but he was released due to good behavior after 9 months. Zigelman’s freedom however, was short lived after police again filed charges of failure to cooperate with a police investigation.

Last Friday the Federal judge in Los Angeles sentenced Zigelman to six months of home confinement. Zigelman is forbidden to leave his home for six months, except for morning and evening prayers. Zigelman was also ordered to check in with local police once a day.

Zigelman told the court that he would rather spend the rest of his life in jail rather than becoming a whistleblower.
