Madeleine Katz, accused of stealing $95G from Scarsdale resident's bank account

SCARSDALE — A Brooklyn woman is accused of fraudulently withdrawing $93,500 from a village resident’s bank account, police said.

Madeleine Katz, 22, was charged with second-degree grand larceny and second-degree possession of a forged instrument, both felonies.

Katz was found to have deposited a fraudulent check with account information belonging to a Quaker Ridge resident who reported being the victim of fraud this month, police said. Money was deducted from the account without authorization, police said.

Authorities did not indicate what the relationship was between Katz and the victim.

Katz was charged Wednesday, arraigned before Judge John Galloway and sent to the Westchester County jail on $25,000 bail. On Saturday, she was released from the jail by court order, according to county records.
