Simon Cowell is reportedly happy to have a Jewish blessing
ceremony when he marries Lauren Silverman.
The music mogul is expecting a baby boy with his girlfriend
Lauren Silverman and the pair are widely tipped to wed next year. It's been
claimed they will tie the knot in Sussex, UK, which is where Simon's mother
Julie lives. So that American Lauren's friends and family can be involved, they
will also have a blessing Stateside, which will apparently pay homage to her
Jewish heritage.
"Simon and Lauren have spoken very openly about
marriage and he's told pals he may even propose by the end of the year.
Because
Lauren, 36, is Jewish, he's agreed they could be blessed by a rabbi and partake
in Jewish traditions, including the bedecking ceremony [where the groom
identifies the bride in a room just before the wedding]. He's even said he'll
have some Israeli dancing lessons for the party afterwards," an insider
told British magazine Heat.
Simon's father Eric was Jewish and his grandparents hailed
from Poland. Hearing Lauren discuss her family roots has apparently made the
mogul interested in discovering more about his loved ones.
"Simon has told pals he's excited to discover his
Jewish roots and has always felt a connection to Judaism in some way," the
source explained. "He's been reading books about Jewish history and is
open to bringing up their child with Jewish traditions. Lauren has explained to
him how important her roots are to her and he's happy to embrace that."
