Jerusalem: Haredi stabbed by 2 youths in Old City

A 33-year-old haredi man from Jerusalem was stabbed Tuesday by two Arab youths near the Damascus Gate of Jerusalem's Old City.

The suspect sustained moderate injuries to his chest and was evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

  

According to police, the haredi man was praying in the Western Wall before walking through the Damascus Gate. 

Police added that the incident was most likely nationalistically motivated.

  

According to the hospital his condition is stable and he is currently receiving treatment.

Upon his arrival to the hospital, the victim told officers that he was attacked after exiting the Western Wall.

  

The two suspects fled the scene immediately after stabbing the man. An investigation of the incident was launched.

Magen David Adom paramedic told Ynet: "At approximately 9 pm, we got a call about a man who was stabbed. A team arrived at the scene and police brought the victim to us. 

He had stab wounds to the chest and waist.

"We gave him initial treatment and evacuated him to the hospital," the paramedic added. "It was hard to comprehend what was going on. He was stressed and there was great commotion in the area."
