United Kingdom – Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis urged United
Kingdom Jewry to support the campaign to battle domestic abuse within the
Orthodox Jewish community.
According to the Jewish Chronicle Online Mirvis said
sensitivity regarding the issue of domestic violence makes it challenging for
charities such as Jewish Women’s Aid to support victims of abuse in Jewish
homes.
The Jewish Women’s Aid was among groups that took booths at
the Jewish Women’s Aid awareness event at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on
Monday. A number of shoppers talked about their personal connections with those
who had suffered abuse.
“It is fantastic that the Chief Rabbi is showing his
solidarity with JWA and abused women on this important day,” stated Jewish
Women’s Aid director Emma Bell.
