Jonathan Braun
NY - A federal judge has agreed to loosen the house arrest
restrictions placed on a Staten Island Orthodox Jewish drug kingpin so that he
can fully participate in the planning of his upcoming nuptials.
THE NEW YORK DAILY Reports that the ruling paves the way for
Jonathan Braun who is currently awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to
running an international drug ring with an estimated worth in the tens of
millions of dollars to accompany his five-moth pregnant fiancé on a visit to
the gravesite of the late Lubavicher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, as well
as take part in the festivities surrounding his upcoming wedding.
Braun’s defense attorney, John Meringolo, convinced Federal
Judge Sandra Townes to allow Braun who is currently free on $8M bail to
attend a wedding announcement party at his future in-laws, as well as the seven
night “Sheva Brachot.”
Court papers also state that Braun can accompany his fiancé
to shop for rings and tuxedos, and accompany her, as well, to any pre-natal
care appointments.
Braun is facing up to 20 years in prison.
