MA - Israeli Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Mass

Cape Cod, MA - The victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident on Cape Cod on Thursday night was an Israeli man who was driving a rented minivan with multiple passengers, including children, police said.

The three-vehicle accident at about 8 p.m. at the base of the Sagamore Bridge in Bourne was caused when a pickup truck merging onto Route 6 east when its left front or left side struck the right front of the other pickup, which was travelling east approaching the bridge.

The second truck careened into the westbound lanes, striking the victim’s minivan head-on and pushing it into the guard rail, police said.

The victim was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

The Cape Cod Times reports that six people were injured, including at least one child.

The passengers in the van, which had New Jersey plates, were also from Israel but police did not say what they were doing in Massachusetts.

The driver of the second pickup, a 43-year-old man from Sandwich, was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries.

The vehicle that allegedly caused the crash drove away. Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a dark-colored truck with minor or moderate damage to its left front end or left side.

The crash caused the shutdown of the bridge in both directions for several hours, snarling traffic on the July Fourth holiday.
