A grim criminal trial centering on a police officer nearly killed while sprinting after suspected car thieves took a steamy detour yesterday with talk of pricey vibrators and marathon sex-toy parties.
As Sefer Mujo and Tiku Qoko went on trial in Brooklyn for gravely injuring a cop who was in hot pursuit of them when he got clobbered by a motorcycle, it was revealed that the stolen car they were in had been stocked with Pocket Rocket vibrators and a $300 sex swing.
Officer Carlos Olmedo almost lost his life during the May 2010 chase into a busy Bensonhurst street, which was set off when he spotted the men in a missing Toyota Corolla that belonged to a sex-toy saleswoman.
Tirzah Warshavsky turned red-faced and occasionally tittered as she testified that her trunk was packed with “adult toys” when it was stolen weeks earlier from outside a Bay Ridge restaurant.
“It was good stuff,” Warshavsky said after testifying. “Those vibrators were $30 to $40 a piece.”
Lawyers from both sides danced around the topic in court, describing the contents in the Corolla’s trunk only as “adult toys” while Warshavsky squirmed on the witness stand.
The 34-year-old Florida woman, who formerly operated an online sex-toy business, had parked the car outside a Fourth Avenue restaurant before she went in and “did my thing” at the X-rated party for nearly 12 hours.
“It’s like a Tupperware party, but with adult toys,” Warshavsky said.
The Corolla turned up on the radar of police little more than a month later, when Olmedo and partner Marlon Key discovered it was stolen while investigating an unrelated robbery in Bensonhurst.
While the robbery victim couldn’t identify any of the men on an 84th Street stoop as his mugger, a scanner atop the cops’ car revealed that a 2008 Corolla parked near the house had been stolen.
After Mujo and Qoko tried to take off in the car with a partner, the pair got out and bolted. Olmedo ran after them, right into the path of a motorcycle.
Mujo, 20, and Qoko, 19, face up to 15 years in prison if convicted of assault.
A third member of the crew, Mario Koruni, was sentenced Monday to one to three years in prison for criminal possession of stolen property.
