A 16-year-old Yeshiva
Bochur was R”L hit by a vehicle and killed on Monday night.
The victim, Yosef Yonah Rotner z”l, a talmid in the Belz
Yeshiva in Beit Chelkiyeh and a resident of Ashdod, was struck and killed by a
passing vehicle as he was crossing Route 3 at the entrance to the community.
Resuscitation efforts were carried out but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Magen David Adom and Ichud Hatzalah operated on the scene.
Police are investigating, pointing out that intersection does not have a
traffic signal or designated crosswalk.
The family was heading to Beit Shemesh to light candles in
the home of a family member.
The niftar was crossing the road to get to a bus
stop to join the family at the Chanukah event. The father received the news on
his way to Beit Shemesh and he turned around and headed back home.
The levaya began from the Belz Beis Medrash in Rova Zayin in
Ashdod, traveling to Kiryat Belz in Yerushalayim and kvura was in Har Menuchos.
