MDA Jerusalem Moves to Highest Alert Status

Magen David Adom Jerusalem has moved to its highest operational alert status, “gimmel” ahead of the levaya of Maran HaGaon HaRav Chaim Ovadia Yosef ZT”L.

Other EMS organizations, including Ichud Hatzalah and Zaka are busy preparing for the levaya, meeting with senior Jerusalem police commanders to receive their assignments.

Street closures have already begun in the Sanhedria area. Many tens of thousands of Jews from all walks of life are boarding buses heading to Jerusalem to participate in the gadol hador’s levaya.

This includes yeshivos in the chareidi, Ashkenazi, Sephardi and dati leumi communities. Residents of communities throughout Eretz Yisrael have chartered buses to travel to Yerushalayim for the levaya.

Police are urging anyone and everyone heading to Jerusalem to use public transportation and not to attempt to make their way in private vehicles.
