THREE MEN were found fatally shot Thursday in a high-end BMW parked in a leafy neighborhood near Columbia University, and cops are looking for the gunman, officials said.
The two front-seat victims were shot behind the ears and the man in the backseat was shot in the left temple — all execution-style, sources said.
The three were found inside the gray 2009 BMW 750LI at 6:27 p.m. on Claremont Ave. near W. 122nd St. in Morningside Heights, cops said.
“The passenger was wearing a Yankee hat and a white T-shirt, blood-soaked,” said Paul Browne, the NYPD’s chief spokesman. The “doors are closed.”
The shooter is believed to have been in the backseat behind the driver, Browne said.
The names of the victims, whose bodies were removed from the car hours after their discovery, were not immediately released, but police said all were in their 20s.
Early Friday, a pregnant woman arrived at the scene, screaming that her boyfriend was one of the dead. “Oh my God. I hope it’s a lie! A hope it’s a lie! Oh my God, he’s dead. Tell me he’s not dead!” she shouted.
Investigators believe the shooting is drug-related, one police source said, noting that the homicide has all the earmarks of a drug hit.
No weapon had been recovered Thursday night, police said, as they were still dusting and photographing the outside of the vehicle.
The $88,000 vehicle’s temporary registration doesn’t match its New York plates, officials said, and it appears to be stolen. It was parked legally next to the Manhattan School of Music and Knox Hall, an academic building that is part of the Ivy League institution.
Cops were reviewing area surveillance tapes and had no record of students in the buildings who heard any gunshots.
A man who happened to be walking by the car saw the victims in the front seats, Browne said, and flagged down a police car on Riverside Drive.
