The diva has landed: Legendary American singer Barbra
Streisand arrived in Israel on Sunday evening ahead of her participation in
President Shimon Peres' 90th birthday celebrations and two planned concerts at
Tel Aviv's Bloomfield Stadium.
Streisand landed at Ben-Gurion Airport shortly after 6:30 pm
on her private plane, accompanied by nearly 150 guests, musicians and crew
members.
From the airport she headed to Jerusalem's King David Hotel,
where she will stay for the next two days. During the rest of her visit, she
will be staying at the Dan Hotel in Tel Aviv.
Immediately after arriving at the Jerusalem hotel, Streisand
and her entourage were already on their way to the Western Wall.
Streisand arrived at the holy site in the evening hours,
apparently to avoid a crowd. The singer visited the Western Wall without the
little dog she was seen getting off the plane with. She still wore the same
white clothes she had on when she landed.
Streisand's production team has refused to disclose the
71-year-old singer's private plans in Israel, but due to her long visit we are
likely to see her touring other historic sites in the Holy Land in the coming
days.
Shuki Weiss, the producer of Streisand's concert in Israel,
toured the Bloomfield Stadium with journalists earlier Sunday.
The famous singer will perform at the venue this Thursday
and Saturday evenings.
"We are proud to be hosting an artist of such
caliber," Weiss said during the tour. "The building has been cleaned
thoroughly and we hope that she feels at home. Streisand promised that her
concert here will be different from other places."
