Nine teenage boys from Netanya, ages 15 to 18, were arrested
Monday on suspicion of committing serious sex offenses involving a 12-year-old
girl who they met on the Internet.
Police launched an undercover investigation after the girl
had told a teacher about the abuse which has been going on the past several
weeks. Investigators were able to trace the suspects through the girl's
computer. Five of the nine suspects were released under restrictions.
Police believe that some of the suspects know each other and
would meet the girl at various locations. The girl told police that she met the
boys on Facebook and that they convinced her to meet them on various instances.
During those encounters, the suspects would force the girl
to have sex with them and performed indecent acts on her. The girl told police the
teens had sex with her one after the other.
It is suspected that several of the encounters took place in
the home of one of the suspects. The suspect denied the allegations claiming he
could not have performed the acts as he has a girlfriend.
On Monday, police raided the suspects' homes, arrested them
and confiscated their computers. The four who are still in custody will face a
remand hearing at the Rishon Lezion Juvenile Court on Tuesday.
Attorney Chen Meiri, who represents one of the suspects, said
in response, "My client denies he had sexual relations with the
complainant. The girl had seduced the boys to have sex with her through
Facebook."
