$48M in cocaine washes ashore in Japan

Someone blew a lot of blow.

Japan’s Fuji Network News reported that a Yokosuka resident discovered four backpacks packed with $48 million worth of cocaine washed up on a local beach.

Each of the backpacks held about 20 bricks of coke – a kilogram or 2.2 pounds each – wrapped in plastic.

The 80 kilos of coke found in Yokosuka, a city about 25 miles south of Tokyo on the Pacific coast, was the biggest illegal drug seizure in Japanese history.

Commenters on Kokatu.com, an East Asian news Web site, speculated that someone goofed – big time.

“Yeah something had to go very very very wrong for this much cocaine to go missing. There’s some very unhappy … people out there,” noted one named PlatinumGraves.
